Averatec 2260-EK1

This sleek and affordable thin-and-light notebook comes in an attractive black matte finish with silver trim, and boasts a roomy and responsive full-sized keyboard, as well as a brightly lit widescreen display.

The 2260-EK1’s AMD Turion processor is specifically designed for highly portable laptops, allowing for impressive performance when combined with 1GB of DD-RAM. Lack of advanced video hardware, however, means that this system won’t be able to handle 3D graphics.

This Averatec machine’s main drawback would have to be its extreme lack of battery endurance, lasting just 1 hour and 38 minutes on a full charge (with the Wi-Fi turned on). That’s less than half the average endurance of a thin-and-light machine.

The 2260-EK1’s lack of a PC Card slot is another disadvantage that precludes the use of certain accessories.

Although this laptop is a fairly decent entry-level system, with the added bonus of a dual-layer DVD burner, it lacks the endurance and extra features to be a serious contender in the business mobility market.
