Nokia has attained a new pinnacle with its introduction of several Lumia handsets. However, this time with the Nokia Lumia 930, it seems that the brand is trying to reach a new apex without any disappointing specifications or uneven corners. This successor of Lumia 925 reflects the brainchild of Nokia and Microsoft, something that is needed to contest with Android and iOS.

This phone is more than just a good hardware piece, as it is one of the few handsets on which Windows Phone 8.1 will be introduced for the first time, an OS that is gaining the maturity of iOS and Android via Action Centre and Cortana. Microsoft has already listed this OS as the debut “enterprise ready” version with its advanced features, such as mobile management support and novel Word Flow keyboard.

Design

The phone boasts a metal shell with plastic back, reduced screen bezel and less spherical sides. With a 5-inch screen and 167g weight, it is among the heavier phones but lighter than Lumia 920. The trimmed design allows comfortable use with one hand. Available in green, white, and orange; the phone’s build quality is excellent, which does not give a feel of being plastic.

Screen

With a 5-inch full HD resolution, the screen has reversed the status of Window Phone mobile screens trailing behind in terms of specifications. The AMOLED panel is a yardstick of image quality that is colorful, sharp, and bright.

Camera

This one is among the strongest hardware aspects of the 930 model, with a 20MP sensor of 1/2.5 inches, which is same as Galaxy S5 but also has an Optimal Image Stabilization (OIS). The high-resolution sensor renders superb detailing in decent lighting, whereas the OIS ensures good performance in low light.

The camera app comes with a bit of twist. Although the basics remain unchanged with a simple interface, a dedicated Nokia interface allows for more control over settings for advanced users. Further, the phone comes with five extra filters for better instagramization.

The sound quality of videos is better than the former models at 1080p@30fps. You can now expect a recording in surround sound with its 1.2MP front facing camera.

The cameras are capable of taking Living Images, the Nokia-coined term with a series of photos for giving an effect of animation. If you put them in the Story Teller app, they take the form of collages created automatically based on their time and location. In simple words, you can enjoy an automated story maker. The Living Images photos are captured automatically with 15 frames before the actual image, provided the shot is focused well. The output is an MP4 file that you can share on social media sites.

Battery Life

It is better with 2420mAh juice pack offering 15 hours and 30 minutes of talk time. There is also a powerful battery saving mode to keep the phone on for days.

Price

On its Nokia upcoming page, it says that this excellent piece will be costing $599.
