Samsung Galaxy Alpha Review

One of the biggest smartphone giants, Samsung, has certainly made the competition with its rivals tougher by announcing its new device in the latter half of August this year. It is Galaxy Alpha, whose previews are already grabbing the attention of several fans, but its release date will be around mid September. The big attractive point of this phone is that it is the first Samsung delight to have a solid metal casing as well as design comparable to the Apple’s iPhone.  

The Quality of Design

The first noticeable quality feature when you take the phone in your hand is that it is light in weight with just 115g. You can grasp the phone against your fingers upright without facing the risk of slipping. The external frame is of metal that makes one recall iPhone 4S, while the flat edge appears matte with shining corner edges. The volume control and power button are also metallic. However, the back is in plastic but it resides flush with the metal frame.

As compared to Galaxy S5, Alpha is more premium with a superior rubberized feel. You can remove the rear panel, which facilitates accessing the battery for swap outs. Another upgrade is of the speaker setup that is now at the bottom with a seamless finish.

The Hardware Power for Processing, Displaying, and Capturing

This is truly the best! The handset has Exynos 5 octa-core with unison of 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 and 1.8 GHz Cortex-A15 quad-core processors, 2 GB RAM for no-hang experience, and proper power efficiency for better battery life. While a browser opens in a second on the S5 more quickly than this handset, Google Maps starts up faster on the Alpha.

The European model also has Cat 6 4G LTE that means access to super fast 4G networks. Talking about the app usage and call quality, you will never complain about it. Talking about the screen display, it is only 1280 x 720 despite tapping into a Super AMOLED panel of 4.7 inches. Nevertheless, the resolution is not disappointing, as it comes to a 317ppi density that is only a bit lower than iPhone 5S featuring 4.5-inch screen.

The phone also features a 12-megapixel autofocus camera having 2.1-inch megapixel in the front and LED flash in the rear. However, the main camera has no optical image stabilization, but the outcome is quite impressive. Of all, the most adorable aspect is the speed for opening apps and instant shooting.

The Live HDR features are handy for photos in different lights, while the Beauty Face feature softens the skin. Shooting 4K video is fantastically easy, but features such as HDR, dual camera mode, remote viewfinder, and video effects are not present for shooting in 3840 x 2160 resolution.

Battery

With 1,850mAh battery, the phone works for at least a day before recharging it. There is the Ultra Power Saving Mode for working until another day with only 10% battery.
